How are dentures fabricated?
When you visit Dr. Vose to get your dentures, thorough screening and diagnosis will be conducted and he will look into various factors such as the number of existing teeth, gum health, jawbone shrinkage, etc. Based on the observations, we will determine your candidacy for dentures. If you wish to get your existing damaged or decayed teeth extracted, we will schedule the extractions to remove them.
During the next consultation, our dentist will take precise oral scans and x-rays of the mouth to map the size and contour of the gums and dental ridges. This will serve as a reference for fabricating the dentures in a dental laboratory, which may take a couple of weeks. Once the dentures are fabricated and ready for use, they will be placed in your mouth and checked for fit and comfort. If any changes are required in the contour, we will make them and provide dentures that offer the perfect fit. Dr. Vose will take you through their usage and the best practices to ensure they do not sustain any damage.
What are the partial dentures?
It is often a common misconception that dentures are used to replace every single tooth in the mouth. But, this isn’t true. Dentures can be fabricated to replace only a few sets of missing teeth as per the requirement. Such prosthetics are called partial dentures and are held together firmly with the help of a metal framework. The prosthetic teeth from the dentures would sit perfectly alongside the existing natural teeth and provide you a complete bite.
